George Washington University has created the “the first walkable solar-paneled pathway in the world.” This self-proclaimed solar sidewalk is made up of PV floor panels that are designed with an energy-harvesting anti-slip surface that can support up to 882 pounds. This technological path incorporates 27 translucent panels that have a peak of 400 watts, enough to illuminate an array of 450 LEDs. This world renowned solar sidewalk can be found on the George Washington’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus.
