Work at the LaPorte Corporate Athletic Complex for the new Slicer Track and Field Stadium is progressing smoothly. With drainage work nearly complete, installation of the asphalt base for the running track will commence this coming week while the new buildings are rising from their foundations. The new buildings provide locker rooms, concession, public restrooms, a training room and equipment storage. The ongoing site work also includes new long jump, high jump, and shot put areas. A new grandstand with 1,000 seats and a new press box rounds out the rest of the construction. The new polyurethane track surface will be installed around the end of the month with lane striping to follow. Larson-Danielson Construction Co., Inc., of LaPorte, is the general contractor for the $1,900,000 project.
